My Smart Home

This is my smart home dashboard where I can control most of my lights and devices. It is always a work in progress as I am always adding and changing things. I can access this dashboard on any device as long as I have my login information. In addition to the devices you see here on my dashboard, there are many other devices and settings that are running in the background. The background devices are usually various types of sensors for which one can pair to any device to set up a basic automation. For example, when my laundry room door is open, then the light comes on; when the door is closed, the light turns off. But you cannot see any of those devices on my dashboard. There are unlimited possibilities of what you can do with automations.

My home is currently running on Home Assistant that is installed on a RaspberryPi 4. I chose this route because it gives me the most flexibility with the devices that I can connect to each other. For example, I can control all my devices with either "Google" or "Alexa" commands. I can also control my home from remote locations but unfortunately that is a feature that requires a small subscription fee.

Even though this is how my home is setup and this is the method that I would recommend, I also see the advantages in keeping to a preferred ecosystem.
